Functional Movement Screen (FMS)
A functional movement screen is a great starting point for determining weakness or poor functioning in
movement patterns. Not only can this help tailor your exercise routine and target areas for recovery,
but a functional movement screen can also help identify potential areas that could be injured in the
future. Not feeling strong after a gym session? Perhaps you’re not obtaining the results you thought
you would, or you’re unsure if you’re ready to take your exercise routine to the next level? Then you
need a functional screen for your movements.
Cupping
Originating from the practice of acupuncture, cupping is a therapeutic decompression technique that
helps with pain, inflammation, relaxation, and blood flow to an area of the body. Small cups are
adhered to the skin using a gentle amount of suction. But that’s not all! A variety of techniques can be
utilized with the cups including moving the body part while the cup remains still, moving the cup while
the body part remains still, or letting the client and the cup relax during the therapy. Cupping is helpful
for tendinitis, inflammation, ligament sprains, muscle strains, and increasing blood flow to an area.
Dry Needling / Acupuncture
Tiny, filamentous needles are applied to different target areas of the body with different goals.
Acupuncture can address holistic concerns such as meditation, stress, pain management, and relaxation
techniques. Dry needling is a musculoskeletal-based functional approach to address pain, muscle
spasms, tendon injuries, and other physical injuries. Specifically, one or more tiny needles are inserted
into a myofascial trigger point, or muscle “knot” that may be causing pain, limiting mobility and range of
motion, and/or causing poor postural alignment. The results? Improved general muscle function and
decreased pain on a cellular level by stimulating muscle mechanoreceptor and releasing endorphins,
enkephalins, bradykinin, and nitric oxide.
Hypervolt Percussion Massage
This is no ordinary handheld massager. Imagine a foam roller taken to the next level. The Hypervolt’s
high-speed oscillations increase blood flow, range of motion, and relieve sore muscles, expediting your
recovery. The percussion massager is quiet and effective while treating myofascial complaints. With
multiple settings and massager interfaces, the Hypervolt can effectively manage almost any part of the
body.
KinesioTaping
Unlike other tapes, kinesiotape is designed to imitate the skin by being elastic, breathable, and
stretchable. When the tape is applied to the skin, it slightly retracts to create a space between your skin
and the soft tissues underneath. This improves lymphatic flow, circulation, and provides additional
room for muscular and joint mobility, resulting in better performance and recovery time from injury.
